Christmas Craft Ideas

Christmas break can seem to drag on endlessly for moms and kids, as the cold winter weather doesn’t always allow for playing outside, leaving your kids bored and restless.

Keeping them occupied and entertained can be challenging on these long winter days, but a great way to make the time pass is with creative crafts.

Here are some great Christmas craft ideas that will help you and your kids pass those blustery winter days.

Fun Decorations

A great thing to do with your kids or even by yourself this holiday season is to make crafty Christmas decorations.

There are tons of different options you can make, from gingerbread houses that are as fun to create as they are to eat, to holiday wreaths and garlands.

Crafts that help you and your family count down to Christmas are fun too, like advent calendars and paper chains. These can be simple or intricately done, so all skill levels can participate.

Using household items to make holiday crafts can give you some unique decorations that will impress everyone who comes over!

Use old Christmas cookie cutters to make a holiday wreath or tree, or take old Christmas cards and string them up to make a holiday garland.

There is no need to go to the store for these cute decorations, just use whatever you have laying around the house!

Christmas Gifts

Some other great Christmas craft ideas are to use things you already have to make unique Christmas gifts. Take your favorite family recipes and using glitter, construction paper and stickers, make a holiday recipe book for a loved one.

You can also make a mini-photo album or scrapbook using things you already have for inexpensive and personal Christmas gifts.

Your kids will love getting their hands messy with glue and glitter, and you will love crossing more people off your Christmas list! Create personalized jars or tins for family members as well; using anything you have around the house.

Christmas Cards

What better way to pass the time around the holidays than by making Christmas cards with your kids? Christmas cards are an absolutely necessity during this time of year and no one wants to spend a ton of money on them.

You can create Christmas cards using a digital picture of your family, or you can skip the picture and draw or paint pretty Christmas scenes.

Let your kids draw their favorite Christmas characters, from Rudolph to Frosty, then add a funny Christmas saying or joke.

Have everyone in the family sign their name and send them off for truly one of a kind Christmas cards that your family members and friends will enjoy.

Other Christmas Crafts

Some other wonderful holiday craft ideas are to use construction paper, markers and cotton balls to create cut-outs of popular Christmas characters and symbols.

For Christmas snowflakes, have kids fold a piece of construction paper in half. Then, have them cut zigzags and crazy shapes along the fold and along the edges of the paper. Open the paper up to reveal a gorgeous snowflake!

For a Frosty the Snowman craft, cut three circles of different sizes out of construction paper. Stack the circles, largest to smallest, to form a snowman.

Glue together and then have your kids glue cotton balls all over the circles to make a fluffy white snowman! Use black construction paper to cut out hats, scarves, and facial features to complete your Frosty the Snowman.

Your kids can create any characters they want using construction paper and markers, so let them go wild for fun Christmas characters you can put up all over the house.
